Mrs. Francis’s Music Classroom Needs

Welcome! I'm Heather, a preK-12th grade music teacher and choir director who has taught elementary music to over 2000 students over 29 years. Yes, I started YEAR 30 in public education!

In my music classroom you’ll find me teaching kdg-12th grade students about and through music, with a sharp focus on empathy, diversity, and equity, and with a combination of both personal accountability and grace.

My list is constantly evolving based on need and item availability. It contains books, small instruments, puppets, classroom tools/supplies, hygiene care cabinet needs, and snacks for students.

I teach in a Title I school in a village that is among Illinois’s lowest 1% of property tax bases (those taxes are how IL funds schools). Approximately 85% of my music makers are from traditionally marginalized races. The full 100% deserve the best education possible, and that necessitates outside help.

I cannot thank people enough for the support of my music students. I am so grateful.
