I’m a school counselor at a Title I school with a high population of English language learners. I believe every child deserves a caring adult, and one of my favorite parts of my job is that I get to be someone outside their home who provides care and support for multiple years of their school experience.
How I Will Use Donations
I will use donations in a variety of ways. I am very big in my counseling space on using books to teach skills or help students see that what they are facing is not unique to them, which can help something difficult feel less isolating. I also think children work through things through play and am always on the lookout for new tools to incorporate play. This school year, I’m also getting to lead our 4th and 5th graders in a class that gives them opportunities to problem solve, manage frustration, and collaborate with peers in naturally occurring ways, and materials are needed for that, so I will use funds toward that as well.
